MEET THE INSTRUCTORS:
Zanbaka
Zanbaka's instruction focuses on a strong foundation in technique and a variety of belly dance genres ranging from traditional folkloric and oriental to more modern styles such as tribal and world fusion. Her vision of dance is a balance between the old and the new, tradition and innovation. Zanbaka is an accomplished soloist, choreographer, one of the founding members of Raqs Halim Dance Ensemble, as well as a dancer with Rubina Carmona’s La Pena Flamenca de Seattle.

Arturo Rodriguez
Coming from a musically infused childhood, the ever-versatile Arturo Rodriguez shares his passion for percussion with the Pacific Northwest and beyond. An accomplished musician, author, and teacher, Rodriguez has performed worldwide, sharing the stage with music legends that include Tito Puente, Dave Valentin, Paul Horn, and Pete Escovedo. Subhashini Santhanam
Subha has trained in multiple styles of Bharatanatyam, including: Kalakshetra, Pandanallur, and Vazhavoor. Subha moved to the Seattle area from India in 2000 and has since started her east side dance school, “From Within”. Subha describes her teaching as a small way to help bring joy and peace to her audiences, students, co-artists and dance school parents.

Aleili
Director of the Middle Eastern dance company, “Veils of the Nile”, Aleili currently teaches weekly classes at the Yoga Barn in Issaquah, South Bellevue Community Center and the Si View Community Center in North Bend, as well as conducts private classes and workshops throughout the Seattle area. Her skills include the combination of an eclectic background of over twenty years on going education and teaching experience in dance, yoga, and various physical training disciplines to enable her to develop individualized programs that are sensitive to participants needs.

Nadira
Nadira's dynamism and vibrancy has taken her to some of the best night clubs on the west coast and Hawaii. This multi-award dancer has performed in numerous shows including MEAI, 2001-2005 Arab Festivals, Folk Life and Bumbershoot – some of the largest festivals in Seattle. She has also been a featured performer on Persian Television. Nadira’s Raks Sharki (Egyptian cabaret dance) technique is superb, and her instruction suited to all levels. Thione Diop
Senegalese born drummer Thione Diop lives in Seattle

Fran Maas
